This was motivated by a comment someone made on a poem I wrote called, "Sense of Humor." The comment was,"but there's a time for everything." Anyway it motivated me too write this.
I can't imagine, preserving a time for joy. Simply smiling and laughing. These features should automatically work anytime. Everyday life is stressful, on the way to work, when we get too work, on the way back home from work, then when get in the house.
It's even a pain sometime to try and have a little fun. Day off from work, out the door I go too play, get in the car some fools almost sideswipes me. Away goes my anger, I want to shoot the finger. Day off ends up in road rage.
Wake up early in the morning, getting ready for some fun. My wife cracks the toilet bowl, so much for the play, it becomes a work day. Finally get to my car, find the brakes are worn, now I'm torn. I can't get to playing, cause I got a brake job too do.
The monkey wrench is worse than murphy law, Seems everyone tries to throw a monkey wrench in a fun day. The monkey wrench is a tool I don't use, I refuse to monkey wrench abuse. (small letters, murphy gets no capitalization cause he's a pain in the azz.)
Here's my dilemma, I own a home, I have two cars and a wife. I got a 9-5 job it's enough to make me want too sob.
I hardly ever get a break, if it's not one thing it's another. If it's not a pain inside my house, it's a pain outside my house. If it's not my wife tearing something up, it's my neighbors kids beating on my cars, on with the battle scars.
When the home is ok, and there's no pain at work. Everything just seems in place. As soon as I get too smiling, I break down personally. Arthritis strikes big time, my back goes out I lose the use of my legs.
The only way I can seem too win, is my strong positive attitude, overcome, adapt and improvise. The hell with murphy law. Now if any of my fine feathered friends even think that I'm going to set aside a time too smile and have a little fun
you're freaking nutso in the head, get to your own cherry pie life and enjoy your cherry. Be glad if your life is good, and that you can choose and pick
or
"have a time for everything"
as one person put it.
Some family and friends say,
"you think everything is funny."
I go,
"well not really, just because I'm laughing or smiling don't mean it's funny. I was laughing because your neck might look like a chicken neck with my big hands wrapped around it."
Then the other person goes,
"I think I'll laugh now, because you look like a big gorilla in my gun sights."
Loved this...I too feel this way many times...I have a home, with a child, grandchild, and husband living with me. I am up at 5:00 am and at work by 7:30 back home by 5:00 pm, supper to prepare, laundry to do, house to clean, papers to grade, lessons to plan, twenty three different children in my class to think about their diverse needs. So I relate well to this write...my husband's neck sometimes looks like a chicken's neck, one I think I might ring, if he asks one more time to bring him a cup of coffee, or honey wheres my shoes...oh this could go on and on, but just when I think I am about to snap or loose it...he brings me a cup of coffee without me asking...or says hey let's get away from everything, call the day done and go for a ride. Loved your poem!

What you say in this clever poem is true, my friend. We all do have out own set of "Murphy's Law" happenings ... but I'm reminded of a saying: "Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you cry alone." Sometimes I put on a smile whether I feel it belongs there or not ... cause the bottom line is, who cares if I'm having a bad day. Ya know what I've found with that fake smile? Sometimes it actually becomes genuine. Thank you for making me think!
