Sometimes our dues seem to never get paid up in full...
We all pay the dues, to walk in our shoes. I've paid my dues, but it still seems like I can't afford my blues. My feet have gotten bigger, so now I have to refigure. Sometimes life marks us never paid, but I've graduated from koolaid.
However the big frosted mug, keeps trying to give me a hug. A hug with a smile, but I'm a grown azz man not a child. I also gave up tootsie roll lolliepops, except on Halloween the licking hardly stops.
My teeth can't afford the price, seems like now I'm paying twice. My feet went from a size eleven to a size fourteen bigger, my run is slower and I need my trigger. Give up your money old man, but I have another plan.
The plan might land me in the slammer, so I have to ease up on my hammer. I'd rather be judged by twelve, than carried by six, sometimes young and old just don't mix. This puts me in a fix. I've learned how to work and pay for my shoes, but sometimes I feel like I'll end up in the evening news. Either the one still standing tall, or the one that took a fall. Either way, I still might have to pay. I have a blank check waiting, hoping I can win the negotiating.

This was a fun romp. I enjoyed the ingenuity of using the shoes as symbols. Good work.
Enjoyed this much my friend, a write that we can all relate too! Your real life writes are always full of wisdom and just the plain old truth! Well written!

That shoes was made for walking, and one of this days...remember that one? But today we nearly can't afford a pair and sure we can't keep with Imelda Marcos collection.
Don't go tap-dancing my friend, not for a ten bucks a tap.

There's a lot of truth in this poem, One. So many times when we pay off one debt, another follows, and another, etc. But, life is a race and in the end, with faith, we'll all be winners. Keep on plugging along!
Creative and fun writing, filled with words of wisdom. The full package.

This leave much to the imagination. I like the line "I'd rather be judged by 12 then carried by six". Lady J
