If you're waiting for others to give you a pat, that's where you might still be at, waiting.

This life has hardly given me a pat,
more or less it's been a smack from a bat,
so I know right where I'm at.
Smack dab in the middle of the sit,
but I never quit.
I keep right on trucking,
in this life worse than a horse bucking.

I've been throwed,
like a grass cutting lawnmower mowed.
Eyes watching,
it never showed.
As a whole I look together with all,
but just like Humpty
I've taken a great fall.
Right off the wall,
I'm still running from the devil,
each day he comes to call.

The only pat on the back I really get,
it's my own hand doing it.
But for now my hand is sore & hurting,
but I can't stop,
because the devil won't quit flirting.
Devine hands slapped my back hard,
each day this is where I get my start.
