Coffee comes straight from the pot,
black and steaming hot.
I love sugar and cream,
don't have any I might scream.
On this particular morning there wasn't any,
usually there is plenty.
I dumped the coffee out,
headed for Dunkin donut in a pout.
Traffic was heavy enroute,
still I made my way about.
I sat in my car with my cafeine drink,
didn't even want to think.
It was early in the morning,
I was still almost yarning.
I felt pretty crappy,
too bad I couldn't add some happy.
Happy doesn't come in a drink,
it resides in the way we feel and think.
Besides it's hard to add happy in the morning,
especially when we're still yarning.
I'm not a big coffee drinker, for being more of a hot tea person, but I know many coffee drinkers who should not be spoken to before they've downed their morning brews.
