Sometimes our own brains can be our worst enemy, just ask the little choo choo.

The little choo choo,
that couldn't choo choo.
All the bigger trains,
had tarnished his brains.
Move aside little choo choo train,
you'll never be a choo choo main.

Everytime he thought he could,
his brain would stop him good.
Don't even rant,
because little train you can't.
Everyday his brain repeated the chant,
little train you can't,
little train you can't,
he wouldn't even try to enchant.

So the little choo choo sat on the track,
his own brain holding him back.
The little choo choo totally quit,
so he was grinded up in the junk pit.
He was so big,
all his left over mass wouldn't fit.

If only the little cho cho had looked in the mirror,
he would have seen that he was superior.
He was as big as the other engines around,
but his own brain held him down.
From his mass of metal
another big engine was constructed,
but the little choo choo's spirit instructed.

The big new choo choo just sat on the same track,
the same jealous trains came to attack.

Hi,

So true, negative thoughts can destroy us if we let them. There's a good message in this free verse. I enjoyed reading it and could identify with it, too. Thanks for sharing it.

yup! your mind is your worst enemy. The good thing with the mind is it doesn't know the difference between reality and fake, so if you did just the opposite and say "This little choo choo train can do whatever it wants to do" your brain will still beleive it a much as it would believe the negative. This is an awesome write, reminds me of the book "The Dream Giver".

Ah, too true. That little "can't" self-instruction wrecks lives and damns spirits. In and out of the lock-ups, we see it every day on the streets. Good one!

Ted
