The problem is, Grady, that lobbiests from the car-makers, bankers, oil-producers, war-machine makers, line up to line the pockets of our legislators, and those are greedy pockets, indeed. Where is AARP, the organization representing those most needing their SS? And where are we? Paying the inflated prices for those cars, buying more inflated-price houses and paying inflated interest on loans we could not have afforded except for "easy" credit, and continuing to elect legislators who have naught but greed on their minds. Truly, we find that we are the problem.
