Sometimes we can be held back by nothing but our own minds and fear.

Poem Artwork

The window is clear
the butterfly sees
where he wants to fly
but in the window
he'll die
Flying with all his strength
the full window length

Going nowhere he flaps
his wings harder even more
next to the window is
an open door
His freedom is a few feet
away
yet in the window he stay

Some years back I was
like that butterfly
I saw where I wanted to go
but I was being held back
by an invisible shield
and for a long time it
wouldn't yield
My freedom was right next
to this invisible force field

I grabbed the butterflies wings
and set him free
watched as he scrambled to flee
All the time knowing
that myself had been set free
no longer held back I clearly see
where I want to go

OPG,

What a wonderful analogy. The trapped butterfly and your trapped soul. Thankfully, they were both freed. Great write.
