One hurricane after another
now an earthquake to smother
It seems no end to the devastation
I wonder if God has an explanation

Some parts of the world suffer
but others enjoy a safety buffer
Spoiled Americans live and eat good
others have a hard time getting food
Some conditions are unthinkable
even in some places the water
isn't drinkable

Tonight while you sleep comfortable
in your bed
don't let world affairs bother your head
just be thankful you're getting fed
Forget what the news man said
After all life isn't fair
and you really don't have to care
So be thankful you're not there
