The master counsels grasshopper on his depression and negative state of mind.

Master,

I'm not sick but I feel depressed.

Grasshopper,

feeling bad at times is a normal part of life. You have to figure if your depression is because of physical reasons or mental reasons, maybe the combination of both. If you feel bad physically maybe you might need some more rest. If you've had plenty of rest maybe your diet needs modification. Seek out foods of energy, eat plenty of fiber and drink more water.
After feeding your body properly you should feel better.

If your depression is because of mental reasons only, then you have to do the same as you would with your nourishment. You have to seek out energy food for your soul. But most of all you've got to want to feel good and fight for it. If you don't, your mind will win and continue to take you in the depressed direction. A wise person makes up his mind which side of the fence he wants to be on, the good or the bad side. Then he makes adjustments in his life to stay where his heart really wants to be. Feeling good isn't a luxury of life that's easily mantained grasshopper, it's one you'll have to learn to fight for each and everyday. Once you mature and realize this, feeling good is as easy as saying,
"I feel good."

Are you not learning how to master the martial arts as a priest? You are being trained to help others in need, how are you going to help others when you can not help yourself? You didn't just wake up knowing kung-fu, you have to learn from the masters. I am a blind man, I do not have the luxury of being able to see but do you ever see me depressed, no? This is because through my training as a priest I learned to control my inner feelings for the direction I want them to travel. It's not all in training either, it's choice, making a strong choice and sticking with it regardless. I choose not to be a depressed person and I use my training to help me maintain my choice.

Class is about to begin grasshopper, so take your seat. The lesson today should interest you greatly, it's called

Controlling the inner soul.

Ok master.

Grady...you are spot on with this one...yes we must decide which side of the fence we want to be on...but sometimes a drs. help is needed...a positive attitude is wonderful....yet there are mild drugs that do no harm that help a lot....I know a few people who are on them.....this is wonderful writing...I love how you do this with the grasshopper....have a great holiday....floria
