This piece reflects the current yet often unspoken or unheard of realities that exist for most people of color living life in America.

I Wake up to the truth of bein’ a descendant of divinity,

Those who were astronomers, alchemists, philosophers, architects

spiritualists, and messengers of the heavens while shaman of the earth…

Those who were civilized way before civilization

Before the demoralization, forced separation, degradation and misinformation create our psychological wounds

Before Archeologists started stealing treasures from our ancestor’s tombs

Then claimin’ rights to them in the name of history and scientific discovery

Dishonoring those we respected and loved

After we had return their bodies to Mother Earth and their spirits to the heavens above…

They desecrating our ancestor’s remains and forbid their death rituals that returned them back to their cosmic home again

Surrounded by many faces

Of people from many places yet all I can hear is the echo of my heart as it beats

One rhythm syncopated by schisms

Broadcastin’ their exploitations through public television

Yet what remains within me is the truism

Of the streets

A voice comes to mind

A vision of times past when community use to be more than another social program

When neighbors were more than just the strangers that pass you by on the street

They were those who knew more than your name

They were a part of your family history and were the enforcers of family love, and respect

Patrons of our children’s safety in hopes of a better future yet again

As my train of thought is overtaken by the invasion of the sound of a sista disrespectin’

Her man publicly in the street and him returnin’ the disfavor

Makes me wonder just what it was that tipped the scales

When the souls of our people started to replicate the self-hatred

hidden behind the phony Minnesota smiles of acceptance

knowing the truth of the lifelong disenfranchisement of being the outcast descendants

 of inventors,  kings and queens

those whose birthright came from original creation

those who built by their blood sweat and tears, this nation

still I wonder when will right-us-ness return?

When will the truth outshines the evil that magnifies the dark lies and fabrications

Throughout his-tory that remains inside the lie-brary of misinformation?

When will we give up the ghosts of a misrepresented past?

When will we realize that we are those ancestors, those original creators,

The Divine Neter and reclaim our minds

one mind at a time…

Embody our divine right to thrive…

supporting each other so we don’t have to keep hope alive

own, rule, and profit from that which we create from naught

to be master of our own lives and the freedom that our ancestors sought

versus what we’ve been programmed by society and taught

as a subject of those who stole the truth of our people but never got caught

to gain some reciprocity for all the havoc that was wrought

throughout our-story.. and not have to try to remember what it’s like to truly be free…

so I bless this and be
