Lichen on a rotting log,
the caterpillar green and tiny --
I walk this dingy bog,
looking for something shiny.
Hawk lights in high branches,
the first star appears --
I sense my chances
and renounce my fears.
The river carves in rain,
and hides in drought --
I am that river,
I know what I'm about.
