A struggle between the one's that love you.

They say I must choose.

I can stay with you, and wallow in misery.

I can move on, and become powerful on my own.

They tell me to leave you behind, you’re dragging me down.

They say I would be better off without you.

I would be stronger to stand on my own two feet.

If I could only see the possibilities that lay ahead.

They say I don’t need you.

I must fend for my self.

If you leave, your worries will disappear, they said.

How do I imagine a life with out you?

Would I ever know happiness, if I were to leave?

Where would I travel to along the way?

Whom would I meet?

You are my entire existence.

The reason for who I am today.

With out you, who would I become?

I’ve struggled to find where I am.

How much weight must I carry?

Is there a short cut in the road, a place to rest my sorrow?

In my dreams, I see you standing so far away.

I sense your beautiful smile, and the light in your eyes.

I want to get to you.

I need to wrap my arms around you.

Yet they stand in our way.

A treacherous path we have followed.

My feet are blistered, my throat is dry.

My bags are heavy.

I weaken with each step.

Then I see you in the distance.

You’re still so far away.

I see your devious grin and the glimmer in your eyes.

It gives me the courage to fight.

The fatigue gnaws at my limbs as I draw closer.

The thought of you in my arms, keeps me drudging foreward.

Someday I will feel the comfort of your hand around mine.

We will leave our troubles with them, as we follow a new road.

Everything will be better when we meet again.

The air will be fresh in our lungs.

Our souls will combine.

An unimaginable force,

Unlike anything, they could have expected.

We will fight the last battle together as one

Against an army of many,

Victorious in our plight for freedom.

We will laugh as they crawl around our feet.

No mercy shall be shown for those who doubt.

Doomed by their judgments against us,

We will stand proud.

Standing together united as one.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
