Poem dedicated to our two stillborn children

Laura Jean and Mary Kathleen By Philip and Jean Birmingham August 2000

Breathless babes, born so still
Born too soon, by God's will
 Infants named, but never seen
Laura Jean and Mary Kathleen
Yet on the edges of our dreams
You've lived and grown, so it seems
Candlelit faces on special days
Your birthdays all in visions play
Laughing, playing in our reverie
And in that mist, a glance we see
Of fleeting looks, long hair and smiles
Swirling dresses and deep blue eyes
In your brothers and sisters, we see you walk
And oft times hear you laugh and talk
You've grown so tall, like flowers unfurled
How they would love you, our beautiful girls
Our time has flown, and is flying still
Heading us homeward, heartward 'til
Our arms embrace you, your faces seen
Laura Jean and Mary Kathleen
