I write this poem to my Somali fellows in the country and in the diaspora who never visit my site to see my work. I'm happy that AD poets have given tremendous attention to my poetry as they honestly review all my work.
I am a Somali poet
I write poems of many genres
In them I express feelings
I pass important messages
I pick words from under the tongue
I scratch truth from under the skin
I walk on slippery roads and sideways
I seldom run into a great risk
I am the voice of the voiceless
I am the voice of reason and justice
I am like a well in the wild desert
The more you come to fetch water
The more I produce more water
Abandoned wells may easily get dry.
The credo of an artist who wants and must be more than that.
The warning in the final line is very much appreciated.
A well of water is a spring well of life but a dried well turns into a breeding place of snakes.

Slipery roads indded. Been tough over there. The north south divide. With the two opposed ruling families?
One must never lose sound reason or the quest for justice.
You stand up and you speak out for the rights, which should belong to all people. Apathy among the masses will cause death to any promise of liberty. Your words inspire to never give up the fight for what is right. You speak for those who are afraid or too tired to speak. Borders should not affect Human Rights. I am glad to hear your voice and to get a glimpse of what it is like on your side of the situation. The news of Somalia, here in USA, has dwindled and we know and hear very little of what is going on in your country. I am grateful to hear it from you.
Take care,
Sherry
