Half of Mogadishu has been displaced by the recent mortar attacks which were aimed to hit culprits but unfortunately landed on residential areas. Dedicated to Sahra Ahmed in London who inspired me to write this poem.

A blanket
And a piece of bread
Is all that maters now
A bed for the night
Is far too unreachable
Just a luxury it is
Being displaced by war
I am a displacd mother
Singing for a hungry child
Who needs food and water
But only receives flying rockets
A child who knows love and peace
But live in endless war and agony
Where do we go from here?

The situation you describe is one of the reasons why it is hard to sleep at night, Abdi-Noor. Such horror should not be! Thank you. Love and peace,

Regis

Your pen keeps getting sadder and sadder, my friend. I truly hope and pray some relief comes your way soon.

This is just so insane what goes on there. I wish you could come here, but it's not so easy. I feel for you and everyone there that is innocent and feel a burden on my life for what goes on there.

Abdi-Noor,

This truly breaks my heart. The innocent are always those who pay the price of man's folish ways. The ways of the world are surely not those of God and sooner or later He will have His fill. May He Bless all who have kept His ways when He finally does my friend.

You ask a powerful question, Abdi-Noor. One would hope that aid is on the way and that soon there will at least be temporary shelter, food and water for everyone, but perhaps I am being optimistic, since for a long while, humanitarian supplies have been confiscated before they get to the people who truly need them. The poverty and devastation is crushing to all who are made aware of it. Keep putting your words out here and perhaps enough people will read them and finally say "enough is enough." People are people no matter where they live and all should be regarded with the same treatment we each feel that we deserve. As I have said before, wars should never be waged against civilians, but unfortunately, that is rarely the case and definitely not the case in your country. I keep you and your family in my prayers and ask for safety and hope of peace for all of you.
Take care,
Sherry

Abdi-Noor, it is not you who must come to us; we must come to you. The world cannot sit back idly while your people are under threat. Please maintain hope; that the world will listen, that the men of hate will be exposed for how they are, that children will smile and play and eat and sleep in safety again; your simple poem speaks so powerfully....
