This poem is dedicated to the Somali intellectuals both inside and outside the country whose hope to see Somalia again is fading in the horizon of despair. They are making a great lapse as their country is descending into the pits of misery and disintegration. A revolution of all fronts is needed to save Somalia from drifting furhter into the margins of non-existence. Hope they listen and pay heed to my calls

Don’t just sit and watch
Rise for your sick nation
On the sands of struggle
Walk with your head high
And your mind wide open
Looking through your heart
Reach out the other hearts
Say them a soothing word
Set a progressive example
Leave marks on the sands of history
Let them tag along your footprints
Let their wounded souls get healed
Let the ache dissipate like clouds
Let them free themselves
From the shackles of ignorance
As through the power of the pen
Can masses break away with fetters
Don’t just talk dear brother
Don’t just sit and watch
Take up the pen and write
Take up the pen and lead
