today I saw girls leaving their school for a break time who were so happy and so shining. The peace and harmony they were enjoying reminded me when I was a school kid in the outskirts of jowhar, my native towm in South Somalia. I'm in Hargeisa now. The first thing I noticed when I arrived was PEACE which is so scarce a commodity in the South of Somalia.
These young school girls
Whom I watched from afar
Have made a mark on my head
Like birds of love
Winging with style
Landing safely
On the tree of peace
I enjoyed their laughs
Like the melody of song
Passionately soothing
The inner feelings of my soul
Their giggles refreshed my mind
with memories of good old days
When there was government in place
And peace filled every vacant space
What a pleasure!
