A friend asked me to dream about his Africa. Here is my dream of his dream.
I looked into your dream tonight, a past you’ve never forgotten I saw a bluff, the surf below, the rush of waves, and shells along the shore I saw a plain, hard and cracked, its vista spanning into eternity I saw a flower, its colorful fragrance, fluttered by a butterfly I saw a tree, alone and lonely, its seed withered in the ground I saw an elephant, giraffes, wild cats, and lesser animals, all predatory hunting grounds I saw a sky, bluer than blue, so beautiful, just like your eyes I saw a night, starry bright, bursting with bits of infinity I saw a fire, crackling wild, reaching for a cause to burn down I saw a people; they know of earth, they know of their survival This is about your dream tonight, left somewhere for me to find This is about your love, my love, this is your Africa
