INNOCENCE

Express day in Modern world hip hop
Sitting alone in empty coffee shop
Sipping express coffee aroma
Read somewhere on an off-white wall
Innocence is strength to face to truth
Innocence is being true to our roots

Pondering over term simple “innocence”
Attempted to trace innocence in modern day events
Gazed all faces across, hoping to find tinge of thought
Waiters, drivers, professional checked them all
Preachers, rich, poor all seemed lost
In rush to attain enlightenment
Intelligence has eliminated Innocence.

Shifted my attention towards different section
Herd of School children, rushing on pavement
Seemed my best bet for probing endangered innocence
Confident, planned, meticulous all they seem from far
As if they were preparing for a war
Innocence was being uprooted from them by our educational system
preparing the  kids for life’s race,
Convert them into more machine than human

Turning around in dejection,
Looked into the mirror for my own impression
searched the tinge of innocence
Found myself standing along with others
Innocence have been long lost, it has no remains at all

Taking pity on my situation
my soul prompted lightly in my veins,
Innocence we can find in infant acts
In its smile even facing eyes of a foe

God gifted innocence to each of us
as the language of our soul
and we in turn all messed it up
forgot its grammar, spelt it wrong,
how I wish I remember the notes of its song!

Kind A SLOw In The Kootenays v2.2 by RickthePoetWarrior

Has-beens and coffee get together to recreate a same old new tourist trap in a land even the First Nations don't want.

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
