If hope were a spirit

It would look like you

If dreams were made of gold

They would all come true

On the wind, in the sun

Forever in the rain

Time does not take away

Nor can my heart contain

All the quiet whispers

Spoken from your lips

Without a word, or a sound

It's almost as if

I've never known

What I thought I knew

Before one night

Made me new

Once I felt the fire

Returning could not be

After my eyes were opened

I can't now un-see

Tomorrow doesn't matter

Nothing I desire

Promises I'd never ask

Freedom doesn't require

Conditions for speaking

Conditions for reaching out

None of those do I want

My head is clear of doubt

That I know that I know

And it will never fade

The future can't undo the past

Or memories already made
