Slave to the Pill
© Jaimey Perham 04/13/2010

No matter how hard I try I am a slave to this pill

No matter what I think, or do the confusion of life challenges my will

Just like when the taxman hands you his masters part of the bill

You must keep moving forward hope is just over that pyramid hill

Part of you will change the rest will remain the same

It’s easy to put others and society in Gods third eye to blame

But try to look deep within yourself at the problem, so your heart will claim

The love to open the secrets of your troubled mind so you might shine

With others to help you through these tidal waves of time

So you may discover the reality of truth, a fine aged wine

But with that gift of fact, be careful you don’t get a burn

If you do accept that ancient warrior’s wound, try to learn

We all make mistakes on this wheel of life that continues to turn

In the end what is our destiny here on earth and its ultimate plan will be

Your book of life from birth to death will be filed in the Holy Temple for you, God, the wise souls to see

And you will slowly drift into the cool light air away from the hot heavy heat

Finally feel grounded, centered, and complete

Whole from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet

Ready to face the next challenge of life whatever the perplexing beat…

Jaimey,

The metaphor of "the pill of life" is so clever and so true. Very well written and thought out.

Mary
