I’m a grown man

I don’t make decisions with emotion.

I think matters all the way through.

Forget “He said, She said”.

Come see me if you have a problem!

Don’t go to my friends or my relatives.

Govern members of your own household.

We get called out, if we don’t handle our business.

Why are you throwing a tantrum because of criticism?

Why do you attribute your problems to race?

Why are you trying to shift the blame?

Say what you said to them in my face!

I won’t quickly say: “You took my words out of context”.

I’ll take my discipline for what it is.

On the other hand, I’ll also speak up if I’m innocent.

Little boys are the ones who need to be shushed.

Men don’t need to be forced into responsibility.

Boys need a parent to make them follow through.

I don’t need to be coerced to do my job.

I knew what I was doing when I signed my contract.

There’s a difference

between a male and a man.

I mentor boys in an endeavor

to point them in the right direction.

I thank the living God

for my father’s example.

The older I get,

the more I understand

how he thinks

and why he’s done

some of the things he’s done in times past.

Charles,

I agree that if a person has a problem come to you and talk to you about it and not everyone else. AMEN! This is one I wished I'd written.

Many blessings,
+Linda

Fine poetry and a finer lesson. It's too bad that some boys have a hard time becoming a man. I recall that I took responsibility for myself in certain things as early as seven years old. I have also found that some of my students took on responsibilities far beyond when they lost their fathers at an early age.

If I had some form of magic wand, I would put young boys in responsible situations as soon as possible. Unfortunately, so many parents now cater to their children and don't allow them take any responsibility at an early age, or setting them up for irresponsibility the future.

and then there always some that never get it…

the number of male 'men' seems to be dwindling....mentoring words like these are needed to remind those that are 'men' of the need to offer their hand to boys coming along. another fine write on this subject Charles.
