~ The Pull of the Tides ~

Can you live here with me
on Land's outermost edge?
Can you live where the wind drives
the scenery east
then west
then back again?
Can you walk for miles on sand
and chase the horizon unquestioningly?

I will paint a landscape
so you will know
always
where the dunes were
upon your arrival.
I will steam clams in a big pot
and feed them to you, wipe the butter from your chin.
I will pick only pinecones from the beach
(leaving the shells for tourists)
and fashion a wreath to trap your chi.
I will sing a Mermaid's song off-key
for your amusement and soothe
your temples with sea salt,
pillow your head on my lap, but first
answer this:

Can you live
here
with me
on Land's outermost edge?

His response: Yes if you'll listen to my stories of land's innermost point. Sorry that just came to mind.

Guru,
You have to read this one out-loud!!
"I will pick only pinecones from the beach
(leaving the shells for tourists)
and fashion a wreath to trap your chi."
I LOVE that!! But this is my favorite, favorite line...
"Can you live here with me
on Land's outermost edge?"
Now...that is THE question!!!
I am liking this side of you A LOT! <smiles>

Love You,
Maria

This is extraordinary speaking of what the pangs of love will do out of the ordinary while keeping the patterns of romance constantly changing and representing themselves in new forms.

Pat, your poem is awesome. We live, breathe and walk the edge each morning we awaken. Most sirens would feed grapes and a sweet song but you offer clams dipped in butter and an off-key song. Your options suit me better. Very well written.
