Above the freeway -
A spiral of seagulls -
Updrafts teasing smoke-greyed wings.
It is dark here, and dull.
I have had my share of confusion.
It his hard here, there is never enough.
But lupine bloom purple
In the heat of exhaust,
And monkey flowers glow like hope.
A hawk sits on a streetlight
Above concrete,
Searching for burrowing things.
I, too, am hungry
For something whole.
Still, I will rise another day
For the seagulls,
The lupine,
The arc of a rainbow across the interchange.
Eddie is very intuitive. The image of the hawk on the streetlight does stand out. I searched in vain for anything in this relating to Easter, so I must assume it just happened to have been written on or near Easter.
