What do others see in me?
But fragments of what used to be
Bits and pieces both old and new
Tattered and torn and no one knew
Shattered and scared and barely there
I'd look for myself, but I don't know where
Shreds and scraps are what I have now
I'd look for myself, but I don't know how
Muddled thoughts are all I have
A broken mind that cannot be saved
Fading memories of others and self
The life once known is now on a shelf
I see my self for what I am
But sometimes wonder who I am
With courage of steel and a will of stone
I survive each day knowing I'm not alone
With painted smile and practiced laugh
Life goes on with hopes that this too shall pass.
Ah, how many times I've felt this way. I am not the me I used to be, but, is that so bad? All the fragments make the whole and create the soul's life history. We are who we are, must we feel badly about that? I'm thinking no...
