You sat there oh so proudly
on that bench at the town square
The sight of you was something to behold
and nothing else compares
When we would arrive at your house
on Sunday after church
We all ran and jumped in your lap
as little birds landing on a perch
You hugged us tight and kissed our cheeks
and said you loved us all
You made us feel so special;
we all felt ten feet tall
And then one day you went to sleep
and never woke again
Grandma said, you went to God
to be His very best friend
She said that you would watch over us
from up there in the sky
She also said, you loved us lots
and that we should never cry
Because on a grand and glorious day
we would all see Grandpa again
And on that day our souls would fly
because God had washed our sins.
