I am not the inhabitant of any nation.
I am the global citizen of my own imagination.
But the smell of the soil, where you were born
heals my heart and makes me moan with joy .
It has the patriotism of the love.
I bring to my life an iota of death
and it makes me love you more
for I have only one life
to give all my love for you,
to share all my life with you.
Your love is the spark of the light
that burns the lamp of my future.
I do know that love cannot be imposed
from outside, it has to come from within
but deep down inside, I know you love me too.
Do not go, my love, the cold night

My goodness, Yes! You've expressed an allegory here that I have just had my eyes opened to see, Bhuwan! The ground beneath my feet which gave me birth and sustains my life and breath... specific to the land of my origins - something very mystical and special about that and, over here in the UK, I am sure that we do not stop to think about that any longer. Because of the nationalistic overlay, "patriotism" has become an ugly-word and very much misappropriated. Thank you for this very beautiful, sensuous and wholly passionate poem.
