I hear the song on the radio
that sings to my heart
'you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone.'
I read the poem
that speaks to my soul
'nothing gold can stay.'
There is good and bad
and it is all a jumble
and the words fail
expressions falter
and who knows what comes next?
Where will I go?
Who can say?
One can seize the moment
but it is like a handful of sand;
the tighter the grip,
the more grains slip out
and soon one opens the hand
and nothing remains.
The moment was seized.
The moment is gone.
