an aged wisdom said to me
behold the many hellos of life
in the complex arena
of a rainstorm
do you not see the wisdom
of keeping office closed during
these times
the simple idea
is of a running spout
within the centre of the greater good
the smaller child asked me
can you show me the way home
i know where it is
but do not know the way
i responded past closed offices
beyond the spout
there the idea is simple
and home is behind the trees

The stage is set..and now I breathe..thankyou Father for giving speed to a thought almost lost..hmmm...at much cost.
I absolutely love this poem! All of it! After my first reading, I broke it into 3 sections in order to savor and appreciate its meaning fully! The first stanza's:
"behold the many hellos of life in the complex arena of a rainstorm"
really grabbed me. Wish I had thought of that "many hellos of life" phrase (smile)
The next lines nourished me so much:
"do you not see the wisdom
of keeping office closed during
these times"
...and then finally
"the simple idea
is of a running spout
within the centre of the greater good"
The one affected me personally, and that's what I love so much about poetry, the fact that each reader's interpretation is so personal. The author sets the stage for us!
Mary Angela Nangini's poems celebrate the richness of life and love. From the city to cottage-country and the roads in between, Nangini explores the changing seasons of her varied region. (This book will soon be reprinted in hard cover.)
Bless you,
