Once upon a twilight breaking, while in wonder, still awaking;
In between the real and dreaming, laid there calm and cool.
Quickly, fell I, back to sleeping, once again my dreams were creeping,
With my eyes no longer peeping, I began to drool.
With my eyes no longer peeping, there I began to drool.
Running through the world I rule.
I was soon returned from dreaming, by the voice of mother screaming,
And with a mighty force, were the covers from me pulled.
I then commenced in crying, as if my soul were dying,
"I'm ill", said I, but lying; this my only tool.
To keep myself in bed, this was my only tool.
Oh, how I dreaded school.
But the act was not deceiving, she was not believing,
And angrily she spoke, "do you take me for a fool.
What I say I'm not repeatin' and my hand you will be meetin',
Boy you're bound to get a beatin', get up and dress for school."
I was bound to get a beating if I didn't go to school.
Mother won the duel.
So I woke up for the day, and soon was on my way,
To where they torture us and feed us gruel.
And the fears were never slowing, as the tears were overflowing.
God, why am I going to a place so mean and cruel?
God, why am I going to a place so mean and cruel?
A prisoner in school.
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
Great write, with a touch of Poe, and a wry bit of humor.

Take a bow.
This is a pure delight, stuffed with the magic Poe.
