I miss the 6-40 connection to Settle
so I wander by the canal
admiring the stone cottages
Back at the station, barrels
being rolled on the platform,
a brass band and folk musicians
a pint of Copperhead Dragon
with the friends of the railway
all together merry
on the Music and Ale train.
Well past my stop at Ribblehead
where we all pile out. This is unexpected,
totally unannounced.
Real ale and railway tales
Ribblehead viaduct
The navvies used dynamite
to blast away the rock
and whisky to forget the cold…
God is a train driver,
God is a navvy on Blea Moor.
Nothing like a grouping of enthusiasts to infect one's senses with a joie de vivre and gathered feeling of belonging. Real ale, music, soaking up the culture and a general camaraderie; what more could be required? This work lives and breathes with a real life of it's own that is equally as warm and welcoming, Ken! It is voyeuristic as well as participatory and richly woven. Thank you, Kate
Sounds like a wonderful trip .. These railway workers had a closeness a bond.. and respect for the job and for each other.. I am sure they work hard and then as you wrote they celebrate their day.. Ahhh a hard life?? Probably.. But a life worth living and a chance to enjoy what really matters in the end.. GREAT journey!!
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
Perhaps "..Quiet Storm" will help rekindle old flames buried and long forgotten or express the love so deeply locked inside of your soul longing to be released.
Regardless of where you may be found in love this beautiful masterpiece can be
Regis
a joyous word picture with vivid scenery!
