An old violin
but still making beautiful music
maybe more beautiful than before
because tinged with sadness
she's played in Cremona
and Stradivari's forest
she's played in Ireland
jigs and reels among
the Gaelic peasants
through the ages, never lost
her fine pitch and tone, her timbre
an old violin, but so lovely
and gracious.
