Jousting for King Charles,
the knights of Britain's pop world;
First out, Sir Elton flying the rainbow colours
Next, Sir Paul - who will fall in the battle
of the troubadours?
You're Yesterday! cries Sir Paul
tipping his lance and charging into Sir Elton
and his piebald steed.
Sir Elton dodges the blow
and sends his lance like a rocket, man
into Sir Paul's right knee.
King Charles watches concernedly
as Sir Paul is carried limping off the field.
Next up, Sir Ringo and Sir Tim
Don't cry for me, Sir Ringo! Tim swings his mace
right into Sir Ringo's bearded face
Sir Ringo reels, sees stars
and yellow submarines.
Sir Tim then asks Sir Andrew
if he will take the field:
Jesus Christ, I'm a keyboard warrior, Tim
while Sir Rod says, Your Majesty
I'll use my long nose, I don't need a lance.
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
Love ya!
