The story of the Loch Ness Monster became a media phenomenon, with London newspapers sending correspondents to Scotland and a circus offering a 20,000 pound reward for capture of the beast. After the 1933 sighting, interest steadily grew, especially after another couple claimed to have seen the beast on land, crossing the shore road.
Nessie's Trip to London
The Loch Ness monster, Nessie, swimming up the River Thames,
Londoners are amazed, shutterbugs
photographing the beast.
Distant memories of Quatermass and the Pit
The police and the army called out, helicopters flying over the London Eye,
the government is apprehensive.
Has there ever been a vision of such awe-inspiring other-worldliness?
Not since William Wordsworth's On Westminster Bridge.
Aye, David Attenborough has spoken to the cameras:
St Columba in 565 AD saw Nessie first as one of his monks
was swimming across the Loch ...
Meanwhile, big Nessie is posing in the water near Tate Modern;
A well-known British artist is covering his canvas
with oils.
Nessiemania! how long can it last,
when will the truth rear its ugly head? The Loch Ness monster at St. Giles!
You should be in the London Aquarium, Jock,
it's all in your imaginarium.
Oh, how I enjoyed this! I have watched so many documentaries concerning this very diva! She's got to be female.....we have a way of becoming invisible, you see.
Sandie
Love ya!
