No golden loom or factory,
No spinning wheel like the proud Arachne
Assam women weave silk and cotton cloth, beautiful sarees.
Natural color, natural dyes, the finest threads and the subtlest yarns -
One can walk in the footsteps of the kings of Rajasthan
and not be put in the shade.
Kala cotton, Himalayan sheep wool, will he stay and take a wife
or travel among the mountains and clouds
finding colors and patterns in his own bizarre verses.
The songs and art in this book are about our collective emergence after the pandemic and trauma of the last few years - comprised of 5 collections: World as Refuge, Where We Live, In Our Hands, Rhythms of Change and What We See & Sow.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
