Grandfather Tree

I looked at a tree
and saw it was a grandfather,
a quiet man of the woods.

A little boy came to sit
down at his roots,
the tree was almost taking
the little boy to school.

Grandfather tree, 5000-years-old,
many battles lost and won,
many kings in the Royal park
have come and gone.
