Autumn colors were singing
orange,
yellow and blue
The day Henry the Butterfly left
his cocoon.
He flew away, touching flowers
with his wings
It could have been a spring day
in April
And a whole valley of butterflies
waiting for Henry on the hill.
A city in the distance,
A gate between mountain
and sea
Henry, a monarch in his pavilion
with an open to the world
panoramic view.
Henry awoke one morning
with his mother giving him
a butterfly hug
Henry gave her a big smile,
Keep flying, Henry, my love.
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
