Playing Shakespeare

I've played many roles; Macbeth, King of Scotland,
(God! that was bloody hard!)
Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, (Harder! all that angst.)

But, I've never played the bard or thrown a dart
or dealt with absence or negative space
or come to grips with abstract art.

Really, who wrote all those poems and plays,
the man from Stratford-upon-Avon?
It's unclear, where are his memoirs for a start?

There's a mystery here like Edwin Drood
Like the lovers in the Athenian wood,
It's troubling my playful heart, I'm confused!

Suspicious like Shylock, can't unlock the casket,
I don't have the key to this polymath, Mr. Willy
Shakespeare of the Globe Theatre.

Bernard Shaw, Samuel Beckett, Oscar Wilde
Were you really a Dubliner, too, Liam Shakespeare?
