All Talents

A lady on a chessboard,

a lady playing the piano,

seeing everything in black and white

except when she's partying

in the beautiful City of Light.

Through the great squares

of history, through all the eras,

post- and neo-, classical and romantic.

I can only say bravo, encore,

what a great strategist, it's like a dream.

Here she is on the Champs-Élysées,

the Françoise Sagan of the piano

she could be a young black lady

who has conquered Paris

this woman of the piano keys,

this supreme queen of chess,

she should be in pearls and tiaras

I will let her music breathe,

I will let her music speak for itself.

All The Talents

A lady on a chessboard,
a lady playing piano, Madame
sees everything in black and white

except when painting the town red,
dancing in a nightclub with a partner
in the beautiful city of light.

Across great squares
of history, through every era,
post- and neo-, classical and romantic.

She moves with ease on the chessboard;
I can only say bravo, encore,
such a grand strategist!

She's here on the Champs-Élysées,
the Françoise Sagan of the piano
who has conquered Paris.

She could be a young black lady,
she could be a great white queen,
whatever way you look, she's supreme.

Thank you for introducing me to this musical and chess genius. It's been many years since I played a game of chess.

In Washington DC, in 1978, I attended the AAAS annual meeting and got a chance to attend a session by Carl Sagan. Even stopped off after the presentation to briefly meet the great man. Any possibility that they are related? I can ask AI, I guess.

The Hanging Man Dreams by Aberjhani

David Hightower’s lyrically expansive meditation on the whims of fate and the unpredictability of the human condition fill the pages of THE HANGING MAN DREAMS with thrilling music and mesmerizing imagery. Hightower’s richly infused voice echoes the e

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
