The sights I've seen in London town;
Beggars outside Tottenham Court Road
and Victoria's rough sleepers -
I need a drink in the old Gin Palace, sir.
I've asked Charles Dickens to write down
the tale through a medium. The best
and worst of times. London's successful
people and failures.
It is positively Dickensian! Mr. Pickwick
and his papers could not bring a ray of sunshine
to the scene. Old Ebeneezer Scrooge
has been walking down these streets.
But, I raise my top hat to the Old Bill
for keeping our streets colourful; not moving on
the destitute and vulnerable. I expect an urchin
like Oliver Twist to pick my pocket at any time.
And I raise my hat to Mr Fogg's Tavern
for its excellent Camden Hell lagers.
I shall not leave here without a smile, sir
The hat's still on my head. Your establishment
has provided me with many a liquid lunch
for which I'm grateful. I'm ready to go on stage now
as Mr Micawber. Goodbye!
