Poem Artwork

Maddy

The boss has taken a maddy
Selling things half-price, very cheaply.
Skye is so beautiful, the autumn colours,
The berries on the Rowan tree.

Visiting Sàil Mhòr Ostaig, we're over
From Coleraine, Northern Ireland.
Waiting quietly, behind the counter
A wee dark-haired lassie.

Celtic connections are strong,
Women of Donegal and the Hebrides
Six and half a dozen, the same thing!
You know where you are, boy.

I don't need any candles or silver
I don't need single malt whisky or a scarf
But, the girl in the Skye gift shop,
I'd definitely take her wi' me.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
