This is a poem I wrote about how much (and how little) love can mean to a person at different times in a relationship. The analogies in the poem have to be interpreted carefully or else you'll miss the meaning.
You’re like honey to my fly
A fix for my high
A word to my song
You’re the right to my wrong
The pit to my pat
You’re my this for my that
Like lemonade to my heat
And new shoes on my feet
You’re the joy to my pain
The loss to my gain
I could dance to your tune
All night under the moon
You’re my up and my down
You give smiles to my frown
Your light shows me the way
When your night consumes my day
You’re the sporadic to my consistence
You complete me with your difference
Your love is everything and nothing to me

Wonderful analogies here, Yolanda. Well done and a pleasure to read.

An interesting and lighthearted poem! I enjoyed it, but I find the last line rather confusing. But, you are the young to my old, which may explain my puzzling over it.

Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,

You're right about the analogies. The last one really throws you off! Fantastic and imaginative write.
