Poem Artwork

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This poem is dedicated to all poets on AD, and beyond.  Imagine an island,  where everyone spoke in metaphor.  The inhabitants could be called the  Metaphors,whose society would later be known as "Poets".
   Muuhaahaaa
Citizens Of Metaphorica
On the isle of Metaphorica, by an ancient turquoise sea
In a locale 'neath a coral sun, words shimmered handsomely
As the breeze of evening veiled the day, and the sands drank dulcet tides
Each voice  spoke in tongues, where phrase was always bride
Their wealth was marked not by the coin, or  on their boundaries owned
It was by expressive count, each soul would find their throne
As voice would song, the words of day, each Metaphor would say
 Their thoughts, wrapped in sweet fragrant song of syllabled bouquet
Days engaged in burnished talk, blessed by the gift of words
Silken, sweet and vivid, as colorful as birds
They understood each other, yet to an outside ear
They sounded   somewhat crazy, when visitors came near
The Metaphors were different, indeed a breed apart
Each became bilingual, as words became their art
For when they spoke their words traced silver lace before their eyes
Yet when they spoke to others,  they spoke to ears closed blind
Anita,
Love the classic feel to your verses. This is a unique take on our little Den society here. You take it to the beyond. Love that! Hugs,
Sheila
a fellow poet and I were discussing the apparent fact that in this day and age, only poets can truly understand poets. Your delighful and well written piece here illustrates that.
You know Anita, there was a feature on Star Trek where the crew encountered a species who only communicated in metaphor. It was cool! (Mind you, I AM NOT A TREKIE) I just thought it was cool! It took a long time for the crew to figure out what the hell these people were talking about, but once they figured out what was going on, they were talking back and forth like old friends. It was like watching a baby learning to speak his first words. I love your poem and I would love to be a citizen of metaphorica!
