Seven ten and there is no sun,
I know it's cold outside.
These winter days,
They're so long.
How much longer until the Spring?
My wife is sick,
A cold again.
It has taken her spirit away.
The dog lounges nearby,
Curled at her feet,
Clearly worried
And looking nervously at me.
Hot coffee to break the chill,
Flannel pajamas and a robe.
The paper is late once again,
Throw a couple more logs in the stove.
Turn the television on,
But nobody believes what they have to say.
Who will be the president?
How many kids have died in war?
Did Janet really mean to show her breast?
Is Michael a pedophile?
Eggs for breakfast,
Or cinnamon rolls?
Here's a blanket to keep you warm.
No, I don't need a thing,
Don't worry about me,
It's you who needs the care.
The sun has risen,
Cough syrup for you,
I'll put the dog outside.
I talked to your boss,
Yes, everything's okay,
Don't give it a second thought.
No kisses for me,
Or I'll get sick,
But how about a great big hug?
Yes, my dear, I'm here for you,
And this is where I will stay.
So, get your rest,
So you can feel your best,
And leave the rest to me.
A day like this,
Is marital bliss,
Would you like some tea?
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(
