Poem Artwork

Interesting, I thought,
And I considered it a lot,
When she gave up sins of the flesh,
And took up sins of the spirit.

In the former she was fun,
A girl constantly on the run,
From rumors and inuendo.
But she seemed not to care,
As she issued her dare,
And loved every man in her way.

The hair was perfect,
And the clothes were tight.
The breasts  pushed high,
Barely out of sight.

The perfume you could smell
From across the room.
Sexual tension you could feel,
Just as soon
As she made her way through the door.

But for now,
All of that has changed.
Her moral compass
Has been rearranged,
And she's now a bitch, of sorts.

Gone are the short skirts,
Push-up bras,
And tight shirts.
No more stiletto heels can be seen on her feet.

She has no more need
To size up her rivals.
But if you ask,
She'll gladly quote you the Bible,
And the whole thing kind of makes you scratch your head.

Her old glamorous life,
By its very nature,
Led her into a string of lies.
She was deceitful,
And manipulative,
Sneaky in the superlative,
And you were amazed that she never got caught.

But in the end,
You have to ask,
Especially when you see her,
Without her mask,
Where did the sweet thing go?

Gone is the mascara
Around the eyes,
And the ruby red lips,
But she kept the lies.

She'll screw you in business,
But not in the bed,
And if you don't watch her carefully,
She'll mess with your head,
And never give it a second thought.

Now she starts the rumors,
Of affairs and tumors,
And nobody has a clue of the truth.
I shake my head in amazement
At the huge transformation,
And wonder why she let it happen.

But on my part there has been
No complicity,
In this unabashed
Duplicity.
I want her back
Like she used to be,
But then again,
Who wouldn't?

Frank, even if the change is permanent ... you would still want her back. Hope is what we live and act on isn't it. A very well drawn
out poem. Great images that spring out at you. Happy Easter. Bill Murray

a very interesting and thought provoking write...is it a matter of the lesser of two evils...or is it a matter of deception...was the "bad" really bad?
splendid job, Frank

A powerful and reflective write about what sometimes happens in real life. Poignant and raises some valid questions.
