Lazy Days

Poem Artwork

Gosh, I'm feeling lazy
On Friday afternoon.
I'm giving some thought to Saturday,
I've got a million things to do.

How is it that my life
Is getting away from me?
I just want to spend some time
Underneath a big shade tree.

I'll listen to my music,
And sip a little tea.
I might even take a nap,
We'll have to wait and see.

You know, you could even come out and join me,
In our hammock made for two,
We'll bring along the dog,
Cause she's got nothing better to do.

I've never relaxed on weekends,
Because I'm always on the run,
I always had to be careful,
Not to miss out on any fun.

But nothing seems as inviting,
On these warm summer days,
Than staring at the sky,
And taking in some rays.

I realize that I must be careful,
As you and I softly rub our noses,
That on these lazy days,
I remember to stop and smell the roses.

I love this time of year,
And most of what comes with it,
Eating corn on the cob and watermelon,
Traveling to see relatives for a visit.

But when that emergency happens,
And people are frantically looking for me,
Tell them that they can find me,
Under the shade of the big oak tree.

darn those emergencies. but your idea for the day sounds idlyllic. i miss the hammock and porch swing at my grandma's house down south. up here in missouri a hammock is a metal thing that isn't half the fun
