Her world is changing all around her,
And she's not sure that she wants to change with it,
She's reached middle age,
A mildly obstinate stage,
And she's not comitted to relinquishing control.
Oh sure, you could say,
He is the love of her life,
But she was a long time on her own out there.
And while the ideas that he poses,
Are accompanied by roses,
She wants to help make the decisions too.
It's a log cabin for them,
After thirty long years.
They've talked and they've wondered, and they've looked in all the books;
They found the perfect piece of property,
And they stole it like simple crooks.
Old growth timber will surround them,
As will a private herd of deer.
Two streams snake their way,
From north to south;
The land is beautiful throughout the year.
But...
She is a city girl,
Who wants to please her man,
And if she could only stand up to him,
And walk around in his soul,
You know, I think she'd finally understand,
That this dream represents
Only good things,
For the two of them, to be sure,
Communing with nature,
Away from the noise,
Lazy weekend afternoons,
For middle-aged girls and boys,
As we live in our Paradise together.
There is a lesson, methinks, in this exceptionally well penned poem; even though the dream is simple, realizing it is complex. (That's what I got from it, anyway...what the hell do I know?? LOL) But what is it that they say...opposites attract? I agree with Jerry, damn good.
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)
