The ocean swells
With the rising tide;
An avian show
Accompanies the full breeze.
Porpoises hunt;
Herding fish with synchronized precision,
As the humans watch;
Enthralled by their sea-dwelling cousins.
Everywhere are the aromas
Of salt and sea,
Reminding me
That we are at rest.
Skin parched
In the afternoon sun,
Awakens me at midnight,
To remind me that I’m alive.
The dawn starts gray,
On another day of peace,
For us.
The sun burns away the fog
By noon,
And we read,
And nap,
And thank God that we are alive.
