Poem Artwork

I hate to doubt you,
But yes I do,
For as I know your intentions,
They've not always been true .
And while this is not an issue between me and you,
What you see of me,
Is the best that I can do.

Why do we sit here;
You and me,
And toss our heads,
And laugh nervously?
Our conversation is superficial,
It's easy to see,
Nothing of import,
Certainly,
But it's no less painful,
I think you'd agree;
At least that's the way that it feels to me.

Shall we turn our heads,
When we pass in the hall?
Shall I pretend not to hear,
When I hear you call?
When you inventory our relationship,
Will you ask if this is all,
And when you feel it come crashing in,
Will you wonder,
If it could have been forestalled?

When God made us humans,
It must have been a sight;
I throw with my left hand,
And you swing with your right,
I'm heavier than you,
And taller in height.
I exercise compassion,
And you deal in spite.
And when it comes,
To the darkest of night,
I may be frightened,
And that brings you delight.

So all that we have,
Has been a facade at best,
A mirage in the desert,
Like a fountain in the west.
You challenge me constantly,
For love that attests,
To undying devotion,
Unlike all of the rest.
But I can't live a life,
Where each day is a test,
In which you'd grade my kisses,
And tender caress.

So, I'll just say goodbye,
And be on my way,
And hope for myself,
To find better days.
For you I wish,
Just as I've always done,
That you'll find your bliss,
And then "poof", you'll be gone.

It is one of the saddest times, when Love Dies First, long before the marriage ends.

I really liked this, Frank Whyte!! It flowed easily, read well, and has a lot of good advice. I rather enjoyed he end, also - *and then "poof," you'll be gone.* Well-done.

Peace.

Ouch...oh the cruelty. Great poem. Those poor fish!

For your sake, I hope the poof comes sooner than later! This was very easy to read (I mean that in a good way, of course!), it flowed smoothly. I very much enjoyed it.
