Poem Artwork

Feet in the sand today,
Solitary thoughts for me.
Breathe deeply and smell the salt,
Coming as wisps,
On the afternoon breeze.
Sharp shells on bare feet,
Heighten senses,
As can nothing but pain.

This is my remedy,
Or so I thought,
To news difficult to bear.
Go to the sea and wander,
And let perspective become what it may.
My answers are not the best,
As they often beget more questions,
But this remedy strengthens me,
Curiously,
And only if in my mind,
Where patience resides.

From the sea,
We can travel the earth,
Transcendentally.
It gives sight to the universe,
In mind’s eye,
And  yields clarity of thought,
Unlike all else,
Unless perhaps,
Deep within the wood,
Where the only sound,
Is that of life,
And wind,
Bearing hope as a gift,
When it is the gift that you covet.

Truly, it is hope that I seek;
Hope in all things good,
For a failing body,
Remembers its youth,
And longs for those days without pain.
So, fall upon me,
Lord of the Wind,
And make me new again.
Let me rest without discomfort,
So my wisdom will no longer be skewed,
And hope will be my banner,
As sacrifice is now my gift.
